Kenneth H. Testorff 81 of Virginia Beach passed away unexpectedly on Sept 9. 2024 Ken was born and raised in Oswego Kansas and was the son of Leonard F. Testorff and Mable (Bigham) Testorff.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Fran Testorff of Va Beach; a stepson Jeffrey W. Tumblin and wife Tammie of Moyock NC; daughters, Chantele Penny of Mineral Wells TX, Christine Grimes husband John of Defiance Ohio,
Brother, Russell Testorff wife Beth of Ottawa Kansas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren,
While in high school he joined the Naval Reserve and after graduating from high school he reported for active duty in the navy. He served 20 years in the service of our county attaining the rank JOC retiring in 1982.
He served on 5 Ships, was stationed in Adak Alaska, was station in Bahrain as public affairs officer Middle East Forces, was station at the Pentagon with the chief of Navy information in Washington D.C. and finally several commands at NOB Norfolk retiring as Chief Journalist while serving a Leading chief petty officer for Public Affairs on staff At Commander Naval Base Norfolk. Once he enter civilian life he continue his journalist pursuits as write/ editor for Norfolk Naval Base newspaper Sounding then on to the Naval Safety Center as editor of 3 safety magazine ending his civil service career as editor in Chief, In retirement He was an Avant Bass fisherman he spent as much time on the water as possible in pursuit of the largemouth bass.
Viewing will be held from 1-3 pm, Sept 17 Funeral service to follow at 3pm with Military Honor’s at Hollomon Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne chapel 3445 Princess Anne Rd., Va. Beach. A burial at Albert G Horton at later date. Condolences may offered at www.hollomon-brown.com
