Earl Thomas Hinton OBITUARY
A limb from our family tree has fallen. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Earl Thomas Hinton, who was called home by God on September 9, 2024, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Born on November 15, 1941, in St. Bride, Chesapeake, VA, Earl was the fourth child of the late Tennie & Hattie Pearl Hinton.
Earl’s life was a shining example of boundless spirit and unyielding generosity. After working for a few years with the City of Virginia Beach, he followed his dream of entrepreneurship and founded Hinton Landscaping Business. For over 50 years, he managed his business with dedication and pride until illness took its toll. Despite his formal education, Earl was a true entrepreneur at heart. He lived his life with passion and humor, bringing joy to those around him with his keen sense of humor and love for making others laugh. Earl had a unique gift for connecting with people; his heart was as large as his enthusiasm for conversation. He never met a stranger and always struck up conversations with anyone he encountered, eager to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. In addition to his landscaping business, Earl was an unlicensed real estate agent who successfully sold many homes for builders while also landscaping the properties. Earl’s legacy is one of kindness and generosity.
He was a devoted brother, father, uncle, grandfather, cousin, in-law, and friend. His spirit of giving touched countless lives, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to uplifting those in need. Earl’s passing has left a lasting imprint on all who knew him. He leaves behind one daughter, one son, three sisters, three brothers-in-law, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
