YORKTOWN — People will get a chance to see and buy unique art as they stroll around the Yorktown waterfront Sunday, as the Art at the River juried art show returns for its 11th year.
The art show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with paintings, photography, wood work, sculptures and more on display and available for purchase.
The works will be judged by John Ovington, an artist, designer, painter, photographer, carpenter, welder, mechanic and teacher, and Carol Anne McErlean, an award-winning artist “who enjoys exploring new mediums and creative possibilities,” according to a news release from York County.
More than 30 artists from Richmond and the Tidewater area will be in the running for this year’s prizes, which are valued at more than $3,000 and will be given for works in two-dimensional, three-dimensional, jewelry and photographic mediums. Attendees of the show can vote for the People’s Choice Award.
The event will include live music, food for purchase and a student art show featuring work from York County high school students in the Freight Shed. The Hampton Roads Winery will be offering wine tastings and all Yorktown restaurants will be open.
Parking will be available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, the County Administration Building and other designated public parking lots. The Yorktown Trolley will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
