PORTSMOUTH — A child was seriously injured in a shooting Wednesday night, police said.
Police responded to the 900 block of Frederick Boulevard near the intersection with Airline Boulevard at about 10:20 p.m. Officers found a girl who had been shot and suffered life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old man also sustained injuries that were not related to the gunfire and are not considered life-threatening.
A police news release initially stated that a child and a man had been shot, but a spokesperson corrected that detail in an email to The Pilot an hour later.
Police did not give any other details, including the girl’s age.
Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
