FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Virginia Tech landed another commitment Sunday, with rising senior edge rusher Sherrod Henderson of Heide Trask High in Rocky Point, North Carolina, choosing the Hokies on Instagram Live over other finalists Michigan State and Duke.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is rated the 61st-best edge rusher nationally and the 20th-best prospect in North Carolina, according to 247 Sports. Henderson also has offers from South Florida and Air Force.

Pro-Am league opens at Norview
On the opening day of the Hampton Roads 7 Cities Pro-Am Basketball League at Norview High, James Prescott scored 15 points to lead Jarcam past ECG 55-51.
Former Longwood standout DeShaun Wade scored 19 points to help Team Brown defeat Daddy James BBQ 60-47. Norfolk State’s Christian “Philly” Ings had 18 points for Daddy James BBQ.
Dani Pounds had 16 points to guide 1st Class RE past Built Different 63-57.
Dom Stanford scored 19 points, Michael Christmas 18 and Ben Nacey 15 to spark Harvey Lindsay over NewRunz 75-62. Cyonte Melvin scored 21 for NewRunz.
